Banding birds has provided valuable information to researchers about bird ecology, migration routes and population dynamics.  A group of volunteers led by Bird Bander Kevin Grundy and a dedicated group of volunteers have been banding birds during the spring and fall migrations at rare since 2008. Join us for a close-up look at what is involved in bird banding. Observe how the birds are captured, banded and what information is collected from each bird. You will have a unique opportunity to observe close up some of the bird species that breed at rare or migrate through the property on their way south.
